I have always had a love for the creative power of make up and remember matching my purple eyeshadow to my nails and taking hours to perfect a thick winged out eyeliner as a schoolgirl back in the 90’s! It was an easy and accessible way to express myself back then and I still feel the same now. Whether it’s a dramatic smokey eye or natural skin that looks like skin, make up has the power to effect and reflect your mood, give you confidence and make you feel your best.
I began studying make up back in 2007 at the Custard Factory in Digbeth, the artistic hub of my hometown, Birmingham. Here I worked on two short films, for one of which I was the makeup designer, various music videos, photo shoots and theatre productions along with location work for the BBC. I then worked for MAC Cosmetics for eight years and NARS cosmetics for one year where I perfected my craft by having the opportunity to work on every skin colour, skin type, face and eye shape in this culturally diverse city. I was on the events team at MAC and worked backstage at fashion shows such as Style Birmingham. I now work freelance, based in Birmingham and specialise in bridal, occasional, editorial and commercial makeup alongside selected beauty treatments across the Midlands and beyond.
I use tried and tested products from luxury brands such as MAC, NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Laura Mercier, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Cover FX, HD Brows, Nouveau Lashes, Dermalogica, Caudalie, Embryolisse, Pixi and Flint+Flint alongside amazing high street brands such a L’Oréal, NYX, Maybelline, Max Factor and Rimmel.
If I were to choose a favourite part of my job, it would be witnessing the confidence that the right make up and beauty treatments can give. Beauty is definitely more than skin deep but if I can help you feel empowered through the perfect lip shade for you, glowing skin, winged liner or amazing brows, it makes me really happy!
